Originally Jonathan was fearful of the part of Spaniel because he didn't think he would be able to handle being an abuser. But after the screenings, although he sat in the back and laughed at himself, the audience loved his performance and thought it was very believable. 

Rolline Davis having acted before, was very comfortable in the role of Sarai. In fact where most people would have been ready to cry under the immense pressure, Rolline laughed it off. She is also a vet major at Tuskegee and is definitely one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.
